Alexis Honora (Noreen) Holohan passed away peacefully at her residence, Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the age of 91. Born in Newcastle, NB, Noreen was the daughter of the late William James and Mary Katherine (Bayle) Holohan. Prior to her retirement, Noreen worked for the Department of National Defence in Ottawa and Washington, DC for more than 35 years. Following her return to her home in Newcastle, Noreen spent many happy hours working in the family’s flower gardens.
Noreen is survived by her sister Rosemary Holohan and her niece, Bayle Gorman, as well as by several cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Katherine, Mary, Patricia (late Arthur) Gorman, Tom, George (late Marian), Beatrice, Michael and Joan.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday,February 10, 2015 at 11 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.
In Noreen’s memory a donation may be made to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, Miramichi Senior Citizens’ Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
