The death of Mr. Donald Garth Johnston, husband of the late Eva (Blackmore) Johnston of Kelly’s Special Care Home, Quarryville, NB, and formerly of Whitney, NB, occurred on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Emerson and Hazel (Matchett) Johnston.
After graduating high school in 1962, Donald attended Saint John Vocational School in Saint John, NB, before working at Stothart’s Hardware as a bookkeeper and then over the past years he worked farming his land in Whitney, NB. He enjoyed Gardening, Canoeing and Hiking.
Donald is survived by: two sisters: Edith Johnston and Alice McLeod (Norman) all of Quispamsis, NB; one brother: Leon Johnston (Grace) of Saint John, NB; four nephews and three nieces.
The family will receive visitors at the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 12:30-1:45 PM followed by the Funeral Service at 2 PM with Heather Ferrier officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Philip’s United Church Cemetery, Whitney, NB later in the spring.
In Donald’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Bible Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
