John (Jack) Parks of Moncton, NB, formerly of Lower Derby, NB passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on May 17th 2015 at the Dr. Georges L-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, at the age of 81.
He was the son of the late Cecil and Thelma (O’Donnell) Parks. He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Rowe of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Steven (Adele) Parks of St-Albert, Alberta and Cecil (Nicole) Parks of Grande-Digue, NB and five grandchildren, Burgundy, Echo, Steven-John, Cecil-Charlston and Alexandre and 3 great grandchildren, Katelynn, Jensen and Jack.
He is also survived by , one sister, Willa (Allen) Hanington of Shediac Cape, NB and one brother Allan (Janice) Parks of Miscouche, PEI and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife Beulah (2011), an infant son, Terrance-John; one sister Audrey, and two nephews Mark and Bobby.
Jack was a devoted husband and father. He had numerous interests and hobbies, which included gardening, music, and dancing. He never missed a chance to put his dancing shoes on or spend time with his friends and family on the Miramichi.
Jack retired at the young age of 55 years old after being employed at the Canadian National Railways for 38 years. He was a member of Keith Lodge, Moncton, 50 year pin, Moncton, NB; Moncton Lodge of perfection; Britton Chapter (Rose Croix); Ancient and accepted Scottish rite, Valley of St John; Moncton Shrine Club; Luxor Temple, St. John; Royal Canadian Legion #54; Single Core Militia; Sunny Brae Air Force Vets; CNR Pensioners Association; Moncton Volunteer Fire Department, Award from Governor General, exemplary fire service medal; CNR first aid team; Past member UCT; Past member St John ambulance; Member of Credit Union Moncton shops; Served on the Board of Directors for Omista Credit Union (credit committee & vice president); Office held with BRC of US & CAN Lodge #967, Treasurer, financial secretary.
Visitation will be at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB on Friday May 22nd from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturday May 23rd from 10:30 to 12 noon with the Funeral Service to follow at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Millerton at 2:00 with Father Gerry Laskey officiating.
In Jack’s memory, donations may made to the St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery fund, Shriners Hospital or to the donor’s choice.
