Cecil Patrick Preston1925-2015Cecil Preston, husband of the late Florence (Vautour) Preston of the Veteran’s Wing of the Miramichi Senior Citizens’ Home, formerly of Ferry Road, NB, passed away on Saturday, November 14th at his residence at the age of 90. He was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Frost) Preston. Cecil was a retired heavy equipment operator with Kerr’s Construction. He was a past member of the Father Dixon Council, Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, Chatham. Cecil was overseas in World War II as a sergeant in England, Belgium, Holland, France & Germany. He was wounded in Belgium on October 13th, 1944.Cecil is survived by nine daughters: Patricia (Bill Hanna) Mullin of Miramichi, NB, Brenda âBonnieâ (John) Brophy of Blackville, NB, Carmel (Paul) Fiander of Miramichi, NB, Dawn Preston of Miramichi, Carolyn (John) Harper of Black River, NB, Wendy (Ron) McLenaghan of Providence Forge, VA, Lois Preston of Miramichi, NB, Cheryl (David) Bell of Miramichi and Pamela (Kirk MacKinley) Preston of Miramichi, NB; two sons: Bruce Preston of Lyttleton, NB and Carl (Shelly) Preston of Miramichi, NB; son in law: Glen Lockerbie; one sister: Eilleen Lloyd of Miramichi, NB; nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Besides his parents , Cecil is predeceased by his wife, Florence, one daughter: Ellie; one son: Harry, one sister: Lena and one infant sister: Cecilia; four brothers: Silbert, James, Donald and Thomas; one grandson: Brent and one granddaughter: Amy.Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB, on Sunday, November 15th from 7-9 PM and on Monday, November 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church, Douglastown on Tuesday, November 17th at 11 AM with Father Maurice Swift officiating. Burial will take place in All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery, Millbank, NB. In Cecil’s memory, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the IWK, Canadian Cancer Society, All Saints Cemetery Fund or the Miramichi Senior Citizen’s Home.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB.
