Herbert Henry Trevors, husband of Alberta Deanne Trevors of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Douglasfield, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the age of 86.

Born in Newcastle, on March 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Gerrish) Trevors. He was a retired employee of C.N.R., employed as a Road Master; a member of St. Pauls / St. Marys Anglican Church; a participant of the Alpha Program as well as Bible study programs.

He is survived by his wife, the former Alberta Deanne Worrell; two daughters, Heather Flanghan (Gary), of Fredericton and Phyllis Carter (Richard), of Miramichi; three sons, Shawn Trevors (Cindy), of Miramichi, Rev. Robin Trevors, of Newfoundland and Eric Trevors (Sandra), of Miramichi; two sisters, Etta MacCullum (George), of Miramichi and Gloria Heiduk (Larry), of Belleville, Ont.; one brother Gary Trevors, of Douglasfield; Grandchildren; great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Cinda Trevors; one son, Peter Trevors; one sister, Lillian Foran; three brothers, Benson, Owen, Theodore Trevors.

Visiting on will at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Marys Anglican Church on Monday, January 5, 2015, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Gordon Thompson. Interment will be in St. Pauls Anglican Cemetery, later in the spring.

The death of Mrs. Carmel Bernetta Jagoe, wife for 60 years of Harold Jagoe of Chaplin Island Road, NB, occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 80.Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Richardson) Landry.Carmel was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle and a homemaker/seamstress.She was very involved in her community and various groups and organizations including: Miramichi Quilt Guild, Miramichi Senior Citizens, Seamen’s Hospital, Girl Guides of Canada, Victoria’s Quilts, Board for Newcastle Housing and many others.

Besides her husband, Harold, Carmel is survived by: three daughters: Joanne Whitney (David) of Miramichi, NB; Carolyn Kervin (Michael) of Hanwell, NB; Laura Blakely (Byron) of Millerton, NB; two sons: Ronald and Daryl both at home; one sister: Jean Chisholm of Surrey, BC; six granddaughters: Jennifer Whitney of Ottawa, ON; Dr. Bronwen Whitney (William Thomas) of Edinburgh, Scotland; Emily Kervin of Fredericton, NB; Lauren Kervin of Sackville, NB; Allegra and Abbygail Blakely both of Millerton, NB and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carmel is predeceased by: son: Artie; sisters: Eileen and Marguerite; brothers: Mark, Raymond, Edward, Herbert, Francis (Pius), Leo and Ben.

The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, in Carmel’s memory, donations may be made to the Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation.

Born in Strathadam, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Roberta (Adams) Jordan. Jean was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church, Red Bank, life member of the UCW and a retired Bookkeeper of many years.

Besides her husband, Jean is survived by: two daughters: Colleen Matchett (Terry) of Cassilis, NB; Faye Nowlan (Earl) of Sunny Corner, NB; one son: Bradley (Margot) of Sussex Corner, NB; two sisters: Margaret Dunnett and Mary Hare (Wes) all of Strathadam, NB; six grandchildren: Josh, Tara, Krista, Jody, Alex and Madison; eight great grandchildren: Anna, Summer, Nolan, Cadence, Maria, Katherine, Carter and Mason and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by: one grandson: Taner Matchett.

Mrs. Emma Rita MacIntosh wife of the late George MacIntosh of Tabusintac Nursing Home passed away Thursday January 1, 2015 at Tabusintac Nursing Home at the age of 102. Born in Tabusintac NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Maria Jane (Price) Harding. She was a home maker and a member of Highway Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by one son Bliss (Victoria) MacIntosh of Tabusintac, one brother Marven Harding (Helen) of Tabusintac, one half sister Myrtle Trowbridge (Jack) of Napan, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one son Henry and two brothers Wilbur and Herman Harding.

Mrs. Emma Rita MacIntosh is resting at St. Andrew’s United Church, Tabusintac, with visitation on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, Tabusintac, with Rev. Gerald Blacquier officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of Riverside Cemetery later in the spring.

She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Donald Teakles (Linda) of Rexton, NB; Mrs. John Donahue (Peggy) of Barnaby River, NB; Mrs. Malcolm MacAfee (Nancy) of Fredericton, NB; Mrs. Gerald Teakles (Joanne) of Penobsquis, NB and Mrs. Beverly Watling (Gerry) of Black River Bridge, NB; four sons: Thomas (Lydia) of Tracadie-Sheila, NB; Michael (Rhoda) of Fredericton, NB; Jimmy of Moncton, NB and John of Sussex, NB; 34 grandchildren and 51 great- grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Stella C. McIntyre of Saint John, NB; Mrs. Kathleen Flanagan and Mrs. Marie Carroll of Miramichi, NB; two sister-in-laws: Mrs. Jane Dempsey of Boulder, Colorado and Mrs. Symone Daley of Hardwick, NB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Thomas Joseph, her brother William and by her great- granddaughters Jessica Elizabeth Manuel and Anna Isabelle Flynn.

She was a member of St. Dunstan’s Parish Council CWL, Fredericton, NB. Her main priorities in life were her faith, family and friends.

The remains are resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, 35 University Ave, Miramichi with visitation on Tuesday Jan 6th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church on Jan.7th at 11 am. Internment will be in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date. There will be a reception following the funeral liturgy in the Rev. Herbert Reinsborough Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either the St. Margaret’s Church Building or Cemetery Fund.

He was an Industrial Mechanic for Local 2262 North Carpenters & Joiners of America and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Besides his wife Lynn, he is survived by three daughters, Kelly Sherrard (Danny) of Boom Road, Heather Pedersen (Daniel) of Denmark Europe and Janette Matheson (Currie) of Lower Coverdale Moncton, three sisters, Myrna Gurinskas (Ron) of New York, Paulette Trotter (Ivan) of Brampton, Cathy Marshall (Tom) of Barryville, three brothers, Larry Comeau (Camella) of Brampton, Dave Comeau of Brampton, and Russell Comeau (Sharon) of Toronto, five grandchildren, Danielle and Stephen Sherrard, Delaney Pedersen, Ella and Dryden Matheson, three step grandchildren, Sabine, Nicolai and Stephanie Pedersen. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Wilfred Jr., one sister, Carmel and one brother-in-law, Murray McConnell.

Tyler Dale Davidson of Heritage Acres, Miramichi formerly of New Jersey NB, passed away Monday January 5, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 27. Born in Chatham NB, he was the son of Dale and Tina (Atkins) Davidson. He was a Website Technician at Hostopia and a member of the United Church.

Besides his parents Dale and Tina he is survived by one son, Seth at home, one sister, Chelsey (Jarred) of Fredericton and one brother, Travis (Linda) of Neguac. He was predeceased by his grandfather.

The death of Marilyn Nellie Sutherland of Whitney, NB, wife of Robert I. Sutherland occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the age of 78. Born in Sunny Corner, NB, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Ernest and Katherine (Matchett) Allison.

Marilyn was a school teacher for 38 years, teaching in Sunny Corner and at Harkins in Newcastle.
In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by her son: Blake (Stacey) of Millerton, NB; two grandchildren: Mitchell and Matt Sutherland of Millerton, NB; one sister: Anna Hare (Winston) of Miramichi, NB and three brothers: Daryl (Kathleen), Beverly (Gloria) all of Whitney, NB and Hubert (Linda) of Whitby, ON.

At Marilyn’s request there will be no visitation. A public Funeral Service will be held at Meadows Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 10, 2014 @ 2 PM with Rev. Jerry Vander Veen officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Stephen’s United Church Cemetery, Red Bank, NB at a later date.

Father Paul copy webIn thanksgiving for a life well lived, the family of Rev. Paul J. Riley, announces the death of their brother and uncle, January 7, 2015 at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB. Father Riley was born in Charlottetown, PEI, the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Dalton) Riley. He was educated in local schools, attending St. Thomas University before pursuing theological studies at St. Paul University, Ottawa. He was ordained to the priesthood by Most. Rev. Arthur J. Gilbert on May 13, 1982.

Father Riley was first assigned Associate Pastor to St Mary’s Parish, Newcastle, NB for the summer of 1982. His first full-time assignment came in the fall of 1982 when he was appointed Associate Pastor at St. Ann’s Parish, Saint John, NB. In July of 1986, he was Pastor at Sts. Simon and Jude Parish, Nackawic and Administrator of St. Agnes Parish, Debec. In November 1986, he was Associate Pastor of St. Michael’s Basilica, Chatham, NB. In June 1987, he was Associate Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Saint John, NB. In August 1989, he was appointed Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul, Oromocto, NB with missions of St. Bridget’s and St. Columba. In 1996, Father Riley was appointed Pastor at St. Michael’s Basilica in Miramichi, NB where he undertook major renovations to both the exterior and interior of the basilica church. He was also Administrator of St. Margaret’s Parish, St. Margaret’s in July 1996. In July 1999, he was appointed Pastor at St. Anthony’s Parish, Fredericton North. In July 2000, he was Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, Diocese of Charlottetown PEI. Father Riley was Pastor in July 2001 at Holy Rosary Parish, St. Stephen, NB, and St. Stephen’s Parish, Milltown. From 2007-2010 he was also Pastor of St. Joachim’s Parish, Saint John, NB. From 2007- present, he was Pastor of St. Ann’s , Saint John, NB.

Father Paul also served the Diocese of Saint John in various other capacities including; Member of the Council of Priests, Member of the College of Consultors, Member of the Priests’ Personnel Board, Member of the Diocesan Finance Council, Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus and Chaplain to the Police Force of the City of Saint John.

Father Riley was predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Myrtle (Everett) Folkins in 2012. He is survived by his two older siblings, Shirley Gallant of Summerside, PEI and John (Stella) Riley of Saint John, NB as well as his nieces and nephews; Theresa (Milton) Goggin, Vicki (Darrell) Campbell, Jeffrey Folkins, Murray Folkins, Russell Gallant, Rosemary Gallant, Kimberly Gallant, Bernice Gallant, Kevin Riley, Kelly Riley, Kirk Riley and great grand nieces and nephews.

Resting at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 135 Simpson Drive, Saint John, NB on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with Evening Prayer at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 12:05 PM.

Interment will take place immediately after the funeral service at the Rural Cemetery in Hampton, NB. Family and friends are invited to a reception at St. Ann’s Church Hall, 135 Simpson Drive, Saint John immediately following the funeral mass.

Loving father of Brenda Robertson (Doug) of Mount Forest, Leta Charlton (Tim) of Brampton, Scott MacKenzie (Ellen) of Fergus and Larry MacKenzie of Inglewood. Cherished Grandad of William, Kenneth, Jason, Jamie, Jordan, Ashley and Danielle. Great-Grandad of Oscar, Morgan, Brady, Courtney, Jesse, Ryley, Robert and Jackson. Dear brother of Viola, Art, Omer and Allan.

Predeceased by his sister Georgina.

The death of Sister Mabel Mary Morrison RN of Rocmaura Nursing Home , Saint John, NB and formerly of Chatham Head, NB, occurred at her residence on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the age of 86. Born in Chatham Head, NB, Mabel was the daughter of the late Edward and Luce (Roussell) Morrison.

For 25 years, Mabel was a Nun and was a retired Nurse who worked as a head nurse at a Trauma Center in Seattle, Washington. She was also involved in the CWL and a Prayer Group in Saint John, NB.

Mabel is survived by one brother: Handley of Chatham Head, NB and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mabel is predeceased by: four sisters: Viola, Irene, Elizabeth and Annie and two brothers: Albert and Edward Jr.

Joy Steeves (Mullin)

Joy Steeves passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on January 5, 2015; after a courageous battle with cancer, she went home to her Lord and Saviour. Born in Newcastle, NB September of 1958 she was the daughter of the late Alton and Ethel (Falconer) Mullin.

Joy was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked for Telecom and formerly NB Tel as an administrative assistant. A member of Grace Valley Church in Quispamsis and was involved with the churches water ski camp and was a former member of the Loyalist City and Southern New Brunswick Corvette Club. She was a talented crafter and enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family and friends.

Joy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years Karl Steeves; sons Nicholas (Jeanna) and Grant (Anna) all of Quispamsis; precious grandchildren Lilli and Hayden; brother Brian (Susan) of Miramichi; sisters Carol Ford (Phil) of Grand Prairie and Sandra Amos (Bev) of Fredericton; mother-in-law Ardath Steeves of Riverview; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends. Besides her parents, Joy was predeceased by her father-in-law Guy Steeves.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the Fundamental Baptist Church, 1170 Sand Cove Road, Saint John West, followed by a reception. Private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Joy’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice, The Gideon’s or Grace Valley Church.

The death of Mrs. Willa Margaret Allison wife of the late Benjamin Delano A. Allison of Boom Road, NB, occurred on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 90. Born in Cassilis, NB, she was the daughter of the late David and Mildred (MacDonald) Hill.Willa was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church, Red Bank and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 90- Ladies Auxillary, UCW and the Women’s Institute.

Willa is survived by: two sons: Eugene (Ivy) of Harland, NB; Roy of Boom Road, NB; one sister: Blanche Mullin of Boom Road, NB; one sister in law: Sheila Hill of Cassilis, NB; two grandsons: Duane and Robert; two great granddaughters: Laurel and Olivia and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Willa is predeceased by: four sisters: Minnie, Annie, Gladys and Norma; an infant sister: Jessie; four brothers: Henry, Bill, Eugene and Blair and two infant brothers: Reggie and Wilfred.
The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Stephen’s United Church, Red Bank on Wednesday at 2 PM with Heather Ferrier officiating. Burial will take place in the Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery later in the spring.

George Joseph Leo Allain husband of Myrtle (Harris) Allain of Newcastle, NB,occurred at his residence on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the age of 55. Born in Newcastle, NB, George was the son of the late Edgar and Rose Anne (St. Coeur) Allain.

George was the custodian at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, member of the Father Dixon Council # 4886 Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Folk Choir and was a very active member of St. Mary’s Parish. George also was an avid musician who devoted his time for numerous benefits.

George is survived by one son: Michael (Brian) of Moncton, NB, one sister: Lorraine Gabel of Moose Jaw, SK, one brother: Albert (June) of Newcastle, NB and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents George is predeceased by one sister: Leona Norton and two brothers: Leo and James.

Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9 and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday evening @ 6 PM. With Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Stymiest, Bertha Vimy Price – Bertha Vimy Stymiest passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015. She was born on September 24, 1918 in Price Settlement and was a lifelong resident of Tabusintac, NB.

She was predeceased by husband John Kenneth Stymiest. She was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, a life member of the NBB Women’s Institute, a founding member of the Tabusintac Community Library and was involved in many other community activities. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Tabusintac Nursing Home. She was a long-time employee of W. S. Loggie Company in Tabusintac. She had a strong sense of community and passion for politics.

The daughter of the late Richard Joseph Price and Isabelle Buchanan Price, she was predeceased by brothers Howard (Frances), William (Edith), Richard (Elvira), Robert (Gwen), Murray (Kay) and sisters Mabel (Kenneth) Hargrove, Anna (Eubie) MacCallum, Emma (Frank) Nolan, Eva (Archie) MacKnight and Catherine (Edwin) Lewis.

She is survived by daughters Lima (Burton) Branch, Kathryn (Ian) Grant, Mary (Carman) Bryenton and son Howard (Beverley) Stymiest; grandchildren Ward Branch (Catherine), Kate Branch (Matthew), Kim (David Savoy) Branch, Maureen Branch, Bruce Grant (Heather Wiggins), Jennifer Turner (Derek), Graham Bryenton (Kimberly) Kenneth Bryenton (Janet McKenna), Matthew Bryenton (Kari), Shannon Stymiest (Ben Clendenning), Lisa Kelly (Michael); and great grandchildren: Anna, Sarah, Olivia, Allison, Aaron, Kathryn Rose, Maia, Anders, Stella, Liam, Grant, Trevor, Owen, Lucas, Sarah and William.

She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews to whom she was very close. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Tabusintac Nursing Home for the exceptional care provided during her time there.They are also very grateful to long-time caregivers Leona Savoie and Carol Denino who made it possible for her to remain at home as long as she did.

The death of Charles “Charlie” Joseph Dunn longtime companion of Barbara Sherrard of Newcastle, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the age of 73. Born in Newcastle, NB, Charlie was the son of the late Thomas and Annie (Savoy) Dunn.

Charlie delivered groceries for the former Mitchell’s Grocery Store and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 10 Newcastle.

Besides his companion Barbara, Charlie is survived by one daughter: Joanne Dunn of Fredericton, NB and one son: Ivan of Vancouver, BC; one sister: Agnes (Aggie) Dunn of Chatham, NB and six grandchildren: Joey, Dale and Blake Rolfe, Aimee, Dyanone Anne Dunn and Nathan Dunn.

Charlie is predeceased by three sisters: Catsy, Diddie and Philli and one brother Bunky.

Family will receive visitors at the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Saturday from 11AM-12:45 PM from where the Funeral will follow at 1 PM with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.

Marie “Jessy” Comeau beloved wife of the late John Leonard Comeau entered Eternal Life on January 12, 2015 at the age of 89, at the Miramcichi Regional Hospital surrounded by family.

Marie Jessy was born in Matapedia, Quebec, September 6, 1925. She was the daughter
of the late J. Henry Keays and the late Alice Albertine Doiron. She was a home maker and a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

Jessy was a very kind and generous woman, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, honest and upright in her dealings with others. Her kindness will long be remembered by her many family and friends both near and far. She was a dedicated and devoted citizen of the Roman Catholic Church. A sincere christian, a woman of sterling integrity, the place is poorer for her passing.

Jessy was a loving Mother of five children. The late Larry Comeau (Laura), Jimmy Comeau of Miramichi, NB; Ann Comeau of Ilse-Perrot, QC; Alice Henderson (Danny) of Miramichi, NB; Joey Comeau (Wendy) of Riverview, NB. A proud Grandmother of Eleven; Kirby Blackmore (Verna), Francois Morin (Nadia), Anna Parker-Richards, Natalie Williams (Danny), Charles Comeu (Tara), Tanya Comeau, Catrina Morin (Ghyslain), Mary-Ann Henderson (Scott), Jessica MacDonald (Dave), Michel Morin and Nicholas Comeau (Kimiko); and she cherished her twelve great-grandchildren; Daniel and Kassidy Blackmore, Liam and Ian Richards, Devon, Kattie and Kyra Williams, Mathis and Livea Leduc, Kendra and Colman MacDonald and Henry Comeau. She is also survived by her Sisters, Mona Dumont (Dieppe) and Josephine Poitras (L’Islet, QC) and her Brother George Keays Quebec QC. Daughters-in-law Sherry Blackmore and Anna Marie Fergerson and many more beloved relatives and friends.

She was loved by all who knew her.

Saint John, N.B. Mr. Joseph Henry McGrath, husband of Edith M. McGrath, of Water Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the age of 84.

Born in Chatham, on January 13, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Viola (Powers) McGrath. He was a retired employee of Wm J. Kerr Construction Ltd. and attended St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edith M. Murdoch; daughters, Susan Ryan (John), of Miramichi; one son, George McGrath (Jo-Ann), of Hinton, AB; three sisters, Ann Goguen (Roger), of Miramichi, Shirley Myers (Dave), of Edmonton, AB and Margaret Ferguson (Bob), of Moncton; seven brothers, Brian (Pearl), Lloyd (Joan), Keith, Blair (Karen), Wayne, Marven (Clorese), Wallace; six grandchildren, Joey, Dillon, Sharon, Jennifer, Robert, Adam; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Meghan.
