Mr. Robert Harold Nowlan of Route 415 Warwick Settlement passed away Wednesday January 28, 2015 at the Foyer Assomption, at the age of 83. Born in Sillikers, NB, he was the son of the late Harold and Mary Emma (Mullin) Nowlan. He was a retired laborer, and a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by five sisters, Doreen McKinley, Mary McInnis, Addie Manderville, Linda Nowlan and Ella Saltenberger, three brothers, Sterling, Don and William Nowlan. Besides his parents he was predeceased by six brothers, Tom, Daryl, Beverley, Fred, Henry and Eugene Nowlan, one infant sister, Grace.

Mr. Robert Harold Nowlan is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, with visitation on Sunday, February 1st from 2-4 & 7-9. At the request of Robert there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will be held later in the spring.

Gloria Emaline Pearl Matchett, wife of the late Beverly Matchett of King George Hwy, Miramichi passed away Friday January 30, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 73. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Isabelle (Lumsden) Jardine. She was a homemaker and a member of Maple Glen United Church. She also was a member of Lions Senior Citizens Club, Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, member of Friends of Richie Wharf, and Seniors Swimmers.

She is survived by her special friend Raymond Savage, two daughters, Gloria Jane Matchett (Tony O’Neill) of Maple Glen and Tammy Angline Matchett (William Reddick) of Glace Bay NS, one son, Beverly Stewart Matchett Jr. (Gloria MacDonald) of Blackville, two sisters, Vera Richard of C.I. Road and Mary-Emma Tarr of Miramichi, four brothers, Wilfred Jardine of Miramichi, Winston Jardine of Maple Glen, Clifford Jardine of Thunder Bay and Colin Jardine of Maine, two grandchildren, Kyle and Devin Whitney, two great grandchildren, Austin and Damien. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one sister, Helen Hatt and six brothers, Robert, Harold, Allen, Elwin, Raymond and Rufus Jardine.

Mrs. Mary Bernetta Maltby, wife of the late William Charles (Bud) Maltby, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, January 31, 2015 at the age of 88. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Born in Renous, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Mabel (Gillespie) Duffy. She was a homemaker and a member of The Point Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Mabel MacTavish (Weldon) of Miramichi; her son Cecil Brewster (Linda) of Wakerton, Ontario; long time family friend Susan Savoy; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Harris Brewster; second husband, Bud Maltby; daughter, Florence Hersey; son, Earl Brewster; sisters, Janie Taylor and Hazel Lyons; brothers, Fred, Leo and Murdock Duffy.

Paul D. Johnstone husband of the late Margaret (Smith) Johnstone of Red Bank, NB, passed away Monday February 2, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 84. Born in South Esk, NB, he was the son of the late Percy and Ann (Foran) Johnstone. He was a retired Police Officer for the city of Toronto and a security officer for the Woodbine Racetrack. He also was a member of Kilwinning Lodge # 565 Toronto.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynn Brunette (Rick) of Kitchener ON, two sons, Douglas (Filomena) of Toronto and Ian of London ON, two sisters, Faye Hamilton (Winfield) of Whitney and Joan Matthews of Miramichi, one brother Jack Johnstone of Moncton, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by one sister, Claudia Kane.

Amand Joseph Durelle, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.
Born on May 25, 1967, he was the son of the late Nelson Durelle (1981) and the late Apoline Babineau (1989). He was a fisherman and mechanic for many years.

He is survived by his life partner Marie Rose Martin, daughter; Apoline Martin, son; Stephàne Martin and his precious granddaughter Aliyah Samatha-Rose Martin, all of Baie Sainte-Anne. He is also survived by a sister Paulette (Roy) of Point Sapin, and nephew Randy, niece Jessie great-niece (Aubree) and half sister Shirley of Massachusetts USA, niece Melinda and Nephew Rejean Houle, Also in-laws Alden (Rita) Martin, Albert (Shelley) Martin of Baie Sainte-Anne, Regina (Richard) Martin, Mina Martin of Miramichi, Douglas (Aline) Martin, Leonce (Anne) of Acadieville and Joseph (Joanne) Martin of Saint Louis de Kent and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Amand is predeceased by his nephew Samuel Joseph Martin (2013).

Amand will be resting at the Salon Soeur Blandine-Martin Slumberoom in Baie Sainte-Anne on Friday February 6th, 2015 from 2pm until the time of the funeral at 4pm, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Feb 6, 2015 at 4pm from St Anne Roman Catholic Church with Fr Gilbert Levesque officiating. Mrs. Doris Murray Lloyd, wife of the late Walter Lloyd passed away at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home on Tuesday February 3, 2015 at the age of 91. Born in Russellville, she was the daughter of George and Jane (Mather) Russell

Doris lived a quiet and peaceful life in her home at 2397 King George Hwy before being admitted to hospital and later Miramichi Senior Citizens Home. She enjoyed listening to music and socializing.

Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Miramichi Hospital as a nurse’s aide.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Cecile) and Kevin (Sue), both of Miramichi, Lorne (Leona) of Campbell River, BC, daughters, Shirley (late Gerald) McKinnon of Miramichi and Lynda (Dave) McCuaig of Saskatchewan. Also her twin sister Ruth Innis, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers Raymond and Wilmer, her sisters, Mildred, Stella, Ina and Helen.

Mrs. Doris Murray Lloyd is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 -9. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 pm at Davidson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Jones officiating. Born in Chatham,New Brunswick,George was the adopted son of the late William and Ida (White) Buckley and the biological son of the late Elmer Earl Glidden and Henriette (Hattie) Duguay Robichaud.

He was predeceased by his wife Amanda:sons Myles and Brian son in law Brian Hemeon; brother Albert (Adeona) Buckley;sister Marie (John) Sharkey; Helen (Gordie) Eisner; Joan (John) Russell.

He is survived by daughters Carol Ann(Don) Brown; Barbara (Don) Sauve;Mary(Darrell) Bellefontaine; Catherine Hemeon; sons Joseph(Donna) Buckley; Everett (Deborah) Buckley; Brothers Ronald (Debbie) Bradford; Billy (Marie) Glidden; sister Shirley Wright; daughter in law Belva Buckley ; daughter in law Dori Buckley.

George is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Dad worked hard all of his life,built his house, enjoyed gardening and great food, visiting the valley especially during strawberry and apple picking seasons, but most of all He took great pride in providing for his family.

He loved to visit his hometown of Chatham, NB being especially close to Marvin and Diane Buckley ,Marie Buckley and Shirley Buckley. Cremeation has taken place with interment at a later date

SILLIKER, MYLES BURTON: The death of Myles Silliker, Sunny Corner, occurred at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont CHU in Moncton, on February 4, 2015 with his loving wife and family by his side. Myles was the son of the late LeRoy Silliker and Jean (Amos) MacCullam. He grew up in Derby, NB.

Myles is survived by his wife of 52 Years: Anna (Matchett). Besides Anna, he is survived by daughters: Darla Fenelon (Terry) of Miramichi, NB; Twila Taylor (Grant) of Grand Prairie, AB; Phyllis Thurrott (Scott) of Riverview, NB; sons: Roy Silliker (Ellen) of Whitney, NB; Brett Silliker (Christine) of Lyttleton, NB. Myles also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren: Quenton Taylor (Chelsey), Jennifer Phillips (Jay), Kelsie Law (Ryan), Shannon Fenelon, Kristen Silliker, Morlan Silliker, and great granddaughter: Sophia Phillips and great grandchildren due in 2015 for Kelsie (February) and Quenton (July). He will also be missed by his honorary grandchildren: Patrick, Katie and Shanna O’Shea.

Myles has four sisters: Barbara Hall of Saint John, NB; Muriel MacCullam (Ivan) of Lower Derby, NB; Katherine MacCullam of Pembrook, ON and Valerie MacCullam (Kim) of Harvey, NB. He is also survived by: five brothers in law and five sisters in laws and several nieces and nephews.

Myles worked as a pipefitter in the Pulp and Paper Industry for 39 years. He retired in 1998 from Repap UPM. He was a member of the CUPE Local 689.

Myles was very active in the United Church of Canada. He has been an elder and member of the official board at St. Stephen’s United Church in Red Bank, NB. He was a member of Miramichi Presbytery for many years.

Myles was a charter member of the Sunny Corner Lions Club. He was also the club’s leader for their Leo Club for many years. He enjoyed taking the local teams on trips to meet other Leo clubs and camping weekends. He served as NB District Governor of Leos in the late 1970’s. He enjoyed travelling NB and PEI helping other Lions Clubs set up the Leo Clubs for the teen in their communities.
Myles loved reading, travelling, camping and family time.

Myles and Anna were the first volunteers to open and run the canteen at the Sunny Corner Arena. He loved frying burgers and hot dogs for players and visitors to the local rink.

The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-6 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Stephen’s United Church, Red Bank, on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen’s United Church Cemetery later in the spring.

In memory of Myles, a donation to the CHUDUMONT Floor 3F at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, the NSER Alumni or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.

The Silliker Family thanks the amazing Caregivers and Medical Staff of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont CHU for the outstanding love and care Myles received for the last 4 months.

Byron Leigh MacDonald, husband of Lise MacDonald, of Air Force Crescent, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday morning, February 6, 2015, at the age of 81.

Born in Black River Bridge, on October 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Duncan and Georgina (Jardine) MacDonald. He was a retired employee of Petro Canada Ltd., in Pencour, Quebec and attended the United Church of Canada.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lise Paquet; four brothers, Benson MacDonald (Marie), of Napan, Henry MacDonald (Anna) and Walter MacDonald (Bernadette), all of Black River Bridge, Perley MacDonald (Dalphne), of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Eldon MacDonald.

Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, Feb. 12th, from 2-4 only. Funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church, on Friday, February 13th, 2015, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring.

Born in Gray Rapids, NB, he was the son of the late Elwood and Irma (Robertson) Sullivan. He was a self employed truck driver and a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Besides his wife Olivera, he is survived by one daughter, Jillian Waye (Colby) of Trout Brook, one son, Aaron Sullivan at home, one sister, Mary Guimond of PEI and one brother, Eugene Sullivan of South Esk. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Caroline Ryan and grandparents, Roy and Glenna Sullivan.

Miramichi- It is with deep sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Lucy Marsh, 83 on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born on July 25, 1931 in Scoudouc, NB she was the daughter of the late Theotime Cormier and the late Ida (Melanson) Cormier.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Marsh; on daughter, Diane Dickson (David); two grandchildren, Kelly (Dan McManus) of Fredericton and Randy; seven great-grandchildren, Joey, Jessica, Ryan, Greg Shanda, Shane and Devon; two sisters, Helen Beemer (Mel), Regina , SK and Yolande Gaudet (Edgar), Halifax, NS; and one
sister-in-law, Cora Cormier, Oshawa , ON.

She was predeceased by step-mother, Bella; Three brothers, Herve, Romeo, Henri; four sisters, Florence LeBlanc, Lillian Arseneault, Edna Carroll and Mary Anne Richard.

OI1996670779_ImageReginald Harry “Dode” Dealy, husband of the late Ruth Dealy, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the age of 99.

Born in Chatham, N.B., on December 16, 1915, he was the son of the late R. Melvin and Barbara (Groat) Dealy. He was co-owner of Dealy Bros. Grocery in Chatham; a former employee of W.S. Loggie Co. Ltd., employed as a fish buyer, branch manager and retiring as Vice President of the company.

He was an adherent of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; a former member of the Masonic Lodge; a former member of the Chatham Curling Club as well as the Omega Curling Club, in Newcastle. He was an avid boxing supporter and promoter.

He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Matheson, Joan Russell and Wendy Dealy (Bob Matchett), all of Miramichi; one sister, Myrtle Bonnell, of Halifax, N.S.; one brother Tyler Dealy, of Miramichi; four grandchildren, Carrie, Leanne, Lindsay, Graeme; three great grandchildren, Andrew, Craig and Drew; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ruth Flieger; two sons in law, Drew Matheson and Edward Russell; two sisters, Anna and Marion Dealy; brothers, Allen, Adelbert and Robert Dealy.

By his request there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A public gathering with the family will be held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on February 18th, from 7-9 pm. A private, family only, graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi, later in the spring.

Treva was a homemaker, member of St. Philip’s United Church, St Philip’s UCW, Whitney, NB and the WMS of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, Sunny Corner, NB.

Treva is survived by two daughters: Carol Ann Forsythe of Strathadam, NB, Sandra Furlotte (Robert) of Charlottetown, PE; one son: Donald of Saint John, NB; two brothers: Louis (Lovey) of Thunder Bay, ON and Elliot (Francoise) of St. Catherine’s, ON; one granddaughter: Katie Gillis (Robert); one great granddaughter: Claire Gillis and several nieces and nephews.

Treva is predeceased by three sisters: Marie Smith, Kathleen Copp and Verna Whalen; four brothers: Alfred, Kenneth, Robert and John.

The Family will receive relatives and friends at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2015 @ 2 PM with Heather Ferrier officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Philip’s United Church Cemetery later in the spring.

The death of Clifford Joseph Pitre husband of Sylvia (Richard) Pitre of Miramichi, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the age of 69. Born in Bathurst, NB, Clifford was the son of the late Clarence and Priscilla Pitre.

Clifford was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 Newcastle.

Besides his wife Sylvia, Clifford is survived by three daughters: Renée Pineau (Dan) of Newcastle, NB, Michelle Pitre of Nelson, NB and Melissa King (Michael) of Douglastown, NB; three sisters: Yvonne Benoit (Walter) and Doris Manuel (Leonard) all of Bellefond, NB, Blanche Bjurstrom (Norman) of Red Deer, AB, three brothers: Albanie (Rita) of Montreal, PQ, Donald (Mabel) of Newcastle, NB & Omar of Barry ON; seven grandchildren: Emily, Cody, Marie, Zachery, Timothy, Mya & Mason; one great grandson: Beau and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Keith Cassidy, of Miramichi, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 74.

Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Fred and Rita (Fitzpatrick) Cassidy. He worked for Good Year, in Toronto, ON, until his retirement and was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Chatham Head.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Gladys (Stewart) Cassidy of Miramichi; his son Darwyn of Mississauga, ON; two sisters Ellen (Byron McColl) of Black River and Anne Comeau of Miramichi; his brother Darrell Cassidy (Margie) of Miramichi; six grandchildren David, Brittany, Adam, Rebecca, Ian, and Victoria; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son David Bradley Cassidy, brother Kenny Cassidy, and sister Lois Mills.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, at 11 am, Father Paul LeBlanc officiating.

Connie was retired from sales, and was a former member of the CWL and RCIA. Connie loved reading, watching movies, cooking, crocheting and dancing.

Mary Elizabeth (Bessie) Adams, widow of the late Gordon J. Adams, of Little Branch Road, Black River Bridge, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the age of 88.

Born in Bay du Vin Beach, on June 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Williston) McLeod. She was a homemaker and an adherent of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin.

She is survived by seven daughters, Eunice Wilson (Tom), of Winnipeg, Man., Minnie Simpson, of Miramichi, Marguerite Barry (Robert), of Miramichi, Hilda Rocca (Ray), of Saint John, Pauline Adams, of Miramichi, Christina Adams, of Black River Bridge, Norma Mutch (Scott), of Strathadam; six sons, George, of Black River Bridge, Arthur (Lylla), of Napan, Brian (Devida), of Miramichi, Alfred (Ann), of Williamstown, Dennis, of Black River Bridge, Donald (Kim), of Miramichi; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one brother, Andrew McLeod, of Bay du Vin Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, in 1987; two sons, Auley and Jackie Adams; one brother, George McLeod.

Miramichi – William Charles Nicholson, husband of the late Therese M. (Tremblay) Nicholson, of Johnson Rd., Bartibogue, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, February 9, 2015, at the age of 76.

Born in Stanley, N.B., on March 6th, 1938, he was the son of the late William E. and Annie V. (Wilkins) Nicholson. He was a retired member of the Dept. of National Defense (R.C.A.F.) and a member of Branch # 10, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi; a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Assoc., in Moncton. He attended St. Peter and St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church, Bartibogue.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Sheppard (Brent), of Salisbury and Liette Crabb (Troy), of Cape Breton Road; one son, Michael Nicholson (Solange), of Miramichi; four grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Currie (Wilbert), Carolyn O’Leary (Ward), of North Devon and Joan Crawford (Brian), of Fredericton; three brothers, Winston Nicholson (Betty), of New Maryland, Wayne Nicholson, of Royal Road and Allison Nicholson (Marilyn), of Fredericton; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Therese, in 2001.

By his request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. The public are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at St. Peter & St. Pauls Roman Catholic, Bartibogue, on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 11 am, conducted by Father Brian Wetmore. Interment will be in St. Peter and St. Pauls Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bartibogue, later in the spring.
