David Gerard Daley of 21 Pyne St. Miramichi passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sept 20 at the age 51. Born in Chatham, he was the son of Burton and the late Patricia (Casey) Daley. Besides his mother, David is predeceased by his brother, Edmund and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Known by many in the community of Chatham, David loved his hometown and the neighborhood in which he lived. He was always a friendly person and would take time to stop and talk to people he knew, as he met them in the community. David’s family was very dear to him as he stayed at home and took care of his father. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Basilica Parish.
David will be remembered as a gifted artist. He had a passion for painting landscapes, nature portrayals and scenes illustrating the plight of the Irish. David was a friend of Middle Island and it is here that he leaves some of the finest works; wall murals can be found on 3 buildings depicting Irish themes and life during the period of immigration.
David will be resting at Maher’s Funeral Home at 35 University Ave in Miramichi. By request of the family there will be no public viewing. Extended family members are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept 23 at 6pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 24, 2015 at 11am from St Michael’s Basilica with Fr John Beaumaster officiating. In memory of David, donations to the St Michael’s Capital Campaign or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
