Melva ElIzabeth (Gorbett) Crawford, of Miramichi, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 66.

Born in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Violet (Hull) Gorbett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army Church.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter Erin Crawford of Toronto, ON; and common law partner Robert Newman of Miramichi.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Brian Douglas Gorbett.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, at 11 am, with Major Lillian Colbourne officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto.

Shirley Ann ( O’Hearn) Bourque, wife of Donald Bourque, of Quispamsis-Miramichi, NB, passed away Wednesday evening October 8th at the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 51. Born in Chatham NB, She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bertha ( Blakely) O’Hearn. She was a former employee of the Cunard Restaurant.

Mrs Shirley Bourque is survived by her husband Donald; two daughters, Lindsay and Erica Bourque at home; one brother, Merlin O’Hearn; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Dougie O’Hearn; one sister in law, Aurelie (Bourque) Girouard and her father-in law Eloid Bourque.

Visitation will be at Mahers Funeral Home on Monday Oct 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at St Michaels Basillica, Miramichi, on Tuesday Oct 14 at 11:00am with Father John Fraser officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at St Michaels cemetery.

Mr. Ralph Joseph David Thibodeau, husband of Carol Thibodeau, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the age of 67.

Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Stanley and Arthurmese (Richardson) Thibodeau. He was a millwright for Nelson Forest Products and a member of the Family Worship Center.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter Krissy O’Brien (Dana) of Miramichi; his son Darcy (Kelly) of Fredericton; his sister Mina Landon of Brockville, Ontario and his grandchildren, Logan, Zachary, Hannah, William and Noah.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Patricia Duguay.

Mr. Ralph Joseph David Thibodeau is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Friday from 7-9. Ernestine (Durelle) Manuel, age 67, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 12, 2014 with her family by her side.

Born in Baie Ste-Anne, on July 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Alyre and Ida (Martin) Durelle.The proud wife of the late Adrien Manuel, she was a homemaker, a retired fisherman and a former volunteer Ambulance Attendant. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by her daughters Ghislaine Martin (Magloire), Brenda Manuel of Baie Ste-Anne, Jeannette Manuel-Allain (Chris) of Miramichi; seven grandchildren, Adrien Martin, Nadia Martin, Jessica Boudreau, Vanessa Boudreau, Rebecca Cyr, Jonah Allain, Hannah Allain; one great grandson, Luc Martin; three sisters, Alida McIntyre (Alfred), Dora Durelle (Fernand) of Baie Ste-Anne and Corinne Graham (Charles) of Mississippi; as well as several nieces and nephews. The death of Elizabeth Margaret “Betty” Foley wife of Jimmy Foley of Barnaby, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the age of 60. Born in Chatham, NB, Betty was the daughter of the late Burns and Margaret “Peggy” (Connolly) Vickers.
Betty retired as Branch Manager from the Beaubear Credit Union. Betty was very active in all aspects of her church, Most Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Barnaby, NB and she also enjoyed quilting.
Betty is survived by: two daughters: Tila Holland and Allison Holland (Matthew Carroll) all of Douglasfield, NB; five sisters: Carol Ann Hilchey (Alexander “Sandy”) of Chatham, NB, Emma Jane Harris (Frankie) of Newcastle, NB, Alice Vickers (Bernie Allain) of Bathurst, NB, Maurina Johnson (Randy) of Santeago, Chili and Joan Soares of Montreal, PQ; two grandchildren: Georgia Holland and Elizabeth Harris; two sisters-in-laws: Margaret Donahue (Carroll) of Barnaby, NB; Karen Mahoney (Pat) of Newcastle, NB; one brother-in-law: Billy Foley ( Mary Anne) of Thunder Bay, ON and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kenneth Bartlett Underhill of Peterborough ON and formerly of Blackville passed away Thursday October 9, 2014 in Peterborough ON, at the age of 59. Born in Toronto he was the son of Noreen (Washburn) Underhill and the late Floyd Underhill. He was a carpenter and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Born in Saint John, N.B. , on January 4, 1930, he was the son of the late William E. and Della (Thibeau) Ashford. He was a chef by profession and a retired employee of Canada Catering and attended the Pentecostals of Miramichi Church, 146 King St., Miramichi.

He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Talbot; one daughter, Elaine Nielsen (Torben), of Shelburn, Ont.; one son, Steven Ashford (Anne), of Logan Lake, B.C.; two sisters, Helen Dempsey (Bob), of Miramichi and Grace Moorehouse, of Oldtown, Maine, USA; two brothers, Sterling Ashford, of Sackville and Merle Ashford, of Havelock, Ontario; one sister in law, Margie Ashford, of Miramichi; seven grandchildren, Alex, Laurie, Andrew, Matthew, Stephanie, Spencer, Sawyer; three great grandchildren, Dawlson, Darius, Willow; as well as several nieces and nephews. George Stanley Clark, husband of Marjorie (Marnie) Clark, of King George Highway, Miramichi, (formerly Millbank), who passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital early Sunday morning, at the age of 94.

Born in Millbank, he was the son of the late Harold S. and Lillie G. (Leslie) Clark. He was retired employee of the Dept. of National Defense, at the former CFB St. Margarets Radar Base, working in the pump house facility. He was a member of Bethel United Church, Miramichi.

He was a Veteran of the Second World War, served with the North Shore Regiment overseas and a recipient of the D.C.M. (Distinguished Conduct Medal); a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Carruthers; one daughter, Elaine Dorbyson, of Saint John; two sons, Kenneth Clark (Gay) and Wesley Clark, all of Miramichi; one sister, Lorna Dickson, of Miramichi; one brother, Les Clark, of Miramichi; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Bobby Clark; four brothers, Earl, Charles, Robert and David Clark; one sister in law, Anne Clark; one brother in law, Grear Dickson.

By his request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A public funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Wendell Gregan. Interment will be in the Moorefield Cemetery, Miramichi, N.B.

She is survived by her husband, John A. (Jack) King; two sisters, Jessie Ramsay (Erving), of Miramichi and Bonnie Godfrey, of Trenton, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, John Robert King; three brothers, Ernest, Robert and Gordon Godfrey; one sister, Nellie Mironchuck.

Nancy Patricia Rody of 404 Edmonton Crescent, Miramichi, New Brunswick, wife of Phillip James Rody died Thursday at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.

Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late William T. Neal, and Patricia M. (Roberts) Neal. Nancy was a retired Registered Nurse, who had spent most of her Nursing Career working in the field of Public Health, in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Ontario. Nancy is survived by her husband Phillip, and step-daughter, Laura lee Gaudet, and granddaughters Ceilidh, and Maggie Mae. Nancy is also survived by her loving niece Kelly Anderson and family of Belleisle Creek, New Brunswick, nephew Christopher Neal and family, and her brothers David and Greg and sister Susan.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 1:30pm from St Mary’s Anglican Church Wellington St Miramichi with Rev Gordon Thompson officiating Reception to follow in Church Basement and interment to be held later in the day. OI42779804_ImageAnnie Druscilla Matthews, widow of the late Edward J. Matthews of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, and formerly of Wellington St., passed away at her residence on Saturday morning, October 25, 2014, at the age of 102.

Born in Chatham, on January 25, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Annie (MacArthur) Gammon. She was a homemaker; a member of St. Andrews United Church; a life member of the U.C.W. (Maude Jardine Unit) of her church; a member of the Silver Link #61, Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by one son, Robert Matthews (Stella), of Miramichi; six grandchildren, Juanita, Lori, Jason, David, Edward, Andrea; 3 great grandchildren, Allison, Jake, Quinn; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Trevors; her second husband, Edward Matthews; three sons, Carlin and David Trevors and Angus Matthews; one great grand daughter, Elizabeth Ann Matthews; one great grandson, Tyler O’Reilly; three sisters Ruth, Grace and Mona; four brothers Lloyd, Clifford, Robert and Carlin.

Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.

The death of Eleanor Eloise “Ellie” (Forsythe) Steele widow of Robert Steele of Miramichi, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the age of 87. Born in Strathadam, NB, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Grant and Jennie “Mullin” Forsythe.

Eleanor retired as a supervisor from Crosby’s Molasses after 50 years of employment ,attended St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Hampton Senior Club.

Eleanor is survived by: three sisters: Audrey Donovan of Brantford, ON; Doreen Alexander of Port Hawkesbury, NS; Margaret Russell (Keith) of Strathadam, NB; one brother: Peter (Nora) of Ottawa, ON and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two infant daughters: Jacqueline Loretta and Paula Marie; three sisters: Dorothy, Kathleen and Sadie; six brothers: Charles, Gayer, Edward, James, John & Bill.

Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 @ 3 PM with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Saint John, NB.

Mr. Edward Raymond McKiel husband of the late Kathleen McKiel of Eastside Special Care Home, formerly of Petrie Street, Miramichi, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014 at his late residence, at the age of 85. He was retired from the town of Newcastle and was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. He also was a retired volunteer of Newcastle Fire Dept.

He is survived by two daughters, Lynn Beaulieu of Miramichi and Debbie Hoefler (Peter) of Kingston ON, one son, Brian (Barbara) of Quispamsis, one sister, Minnie Rabey of Scarborough ON, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by one sister Ruby Matchett and one brother Boyd McKiel.

Mr. Edward Raymond McKiel is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation Wednesday from 4 to 8. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday 12 noon October 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot of the church cemetery.

Mrs. Edna “Joyce” Fortune widow of John Fortune of Main Street Blackville passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 89. Born in Blackville NB, she was the daughter of the late Hudson and Esther Underhill. She was a retired custodian at Blackville High School and a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She also was a Veteran of Canadian Women’s Army Corps and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 49.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Brophy (Stan) of Halifax NS and Tammy Fortune (Chris) of Toronto, four sons, Jim (Bobby) of Fredericton, Perry (Gladys) of White Rapids, Hudson (Tracy) of Gray Rapids and Ian (Wendy) of Blackville, one brother Bruce Underhill of Blackville, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one daughter Anne, two brothers, Joel and Vaughn.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be held Friday October 31, 2014, 1 p.m. at Holy trinity Anglican Church, Blackville, with father Gerry Laskey officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot of the church cemetery.

William (Bill) Joseph Dunn, husband of the late Elizabeth (Simpson) Dunn, of Miramichi Senior Citizens Home Veteran’s Wing and formerly of Red Bank, passed away at his late residence on Thursday October 30, 2014 at the age of 90. Born in Red Bank, NB, Bill was the son of the late William and Ellen (Foran) Dunn.
Bill served in World War II with the Brockville Rifles, worked as a mail carrier, barber and iron worker. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 90, Sunny Corner and the Miramichi Fiddlers.
Bill’s great love for music, both playing and listening, was a source of pleasure throughout his life, and as he spent his final years at the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home he had many opportunities to enjoy doing both.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Sheena DeWolfe (Jim), John Dunn (Karen), Suzanne Trevors (Stuart) all of Miramichi, Colleen Dunn (Dale), of Bridgewater NS, Trudi Dunn (Paul) of Elmswell England; his grandchildren Tim, Susanna, David, Tyanne, Kate, Molly, Philip and Laura; his sister Katherine Kirkpatrick of Lachute PQ, his sister-in-law Elsie McLean of Miramichi and brother-in-law Adrian Ross of Fredericton, NB.
Bill is predeceased by his parents: William and Ellen Dunn, brothers: John and Foran, sisters: Veronica, Margaret, Gertrude and Beatrice.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 PM & 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2014 @ 11 AM from St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB with Father Dan Melanson officiating.

Mrs. Anna Lee (McGrath) Somers wife of Frank Somers of Matthew Settlement, NB, passed away early Thursday morning October 30, 2014 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 68. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of Eileen McGrath. She did home care for Family Community Services and also was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Besides her husband Frank and her mother Eileen, she is survived by one daughter Tammy Comeau of Moncton and one son Sterling (Terry) Somers of Sillikers, one daughter-in-law June Somers, 7 grandchildren, Adam, Charlene, Adrianne, Alex, Brittany, Janessa & Ethen and 2 great grandchildren, Andre & Alianne. She was predeceased by one son Randy Somers.

Mrs. Anna Lee Somers is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 2 p.m. at Little South West Baptist Church Cemetery.
