Mr. Gregory Cornelius Sullivan husband of Joan ((Regan) Sullivan of North Barnaby Road, Barnaby, passed away Monday October 20, 2014 at his late residence, at the age of 65.

Born in Barnaby, he was the son of the late John and Regina (Regan) Sullivan. He was a laborer and a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Barnaby.

Besides his wife Joan he is survived by one sister Carmel Foran of Miramichi, two brothers, Kenneth Sullivan of Miramichi and Joe Sullivan (Dorothy) of Barnaby. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one daughter Joy Sullivan and two brothers Clarence and Clare Sullivan.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 24, 2014, 11 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Barnaby, with Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot of the church cemetery.

Annie Agnes (Dwyer) Holland wife of the late Matthew Holland. Passed away at the Mount St Joseph Nursing Home at the age of 98.

Born in St. Margaret’s, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Agnes (Shanahan) Dwyer. She was a member of ST Patrick’s CWL and employed at the Radar Station in St Margaret’s, NB.

She is survived by her sons: Frederick and Vincent (Patsy) of Nowlanville, Four grandchildren: Lori Anne, Mary Rita, Matthew and Amy and seven great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is predeceased by brother Patrick & Neil, four sisters: Frances (Hubert Cook), Julia (Joe Holland), Bridget (Eddie O’Connor) and Gertrude.

Mrs. Vida Helen (Coughlan) Sturgeon, wife of Hayward Sturgeon, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the age of 73.

Born in Blackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nora Coughlan. She was a retail clerk for 25 years at the Met/Saan store, a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and a ACW member. She belonged to various Mixed Bowling Leagues, in both Miramichi and Blackville.

She is survived by her husband, Hayward; her daughter, Lorelei Sturgeon-Bell (Brian); her son, Kendall Sturgeon (Lisa); her sisters, Noreen Sullivan of Grey Rapids; Freda (Keith) Greenhalgh of Calgary, Donna (Herb Barry) Curtis of Blackville, Valerie (Leslie) Stewart of White Rapids, Pauline (Blaine) Underhill of Barnettville, Marilyn (Norman) Urquhart of Barnettvilleand special cousin/sister Vada (Fred) Curtis of Blackville; her brothers, Cameron (Carolyn) Coughlan of Blackville, Reginald (Claudia) Coughlan of Doyles Brook, Wayne (Tanya) Coughlan of Moncton, Danny (Bev) Coughlan of Grey Rapids and Preston (Karen) Coughlan of Grey Rapids; grand daughter, Leslie Ann Clark of Moncton and her special exchange granddaughter Rita Song of China.

OI375829012_Image Rev. Robert Ellis Whyte, Deacon, retired clergyman and husband of Carolyn (Bagshaw) Whyte, of Tozer Ave., Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday morning, October 30, 2014, at the age of 82.

Born in Halifax, N.S., on April 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Dr. Earl F. and Evelyn (Ellis) Whyte. He was a retired Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and attended both Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church, Miramichi as well as St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi. He was a former Chaplin of the Black Watch as well as a Cdn. Peacekeeper.

He is survived by his wife, the former Carolyn Bagshaw; two daughters, Mary Margaret Yates (Charles), of London, England and Heather Smith, of Miramichi; two sons, Dr. Peter Whyte, of Hamilton, Ont. and Andrew Whyte, of Vancouver. B.C.; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Carol, Scott, Timothy, Joshua, Jeremy, Lisa; six great grandchildren, Tanner, Tessa, Autumn, Alexander, Jacob, Abigail; as well as one nephew, James D. Haviland. He was predeceased by one sister, Marion R. Haviland; one brother, Earl M. Whyte.

Visitation will be held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St. Miramichi, on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Remains will then be transferred on Wednesday evening to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, for vigil prayers and visitation from 7-9 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michaels Basilica on Thursday morning, November 6, 2014, at 11 am, with Bishop Robert Harris officiating. Interment will be in St. Michaels Roman Catholic Cemetery, Miramichi.

Please note – members of the Cdn. Peacekeepers and Veterans Assoc. are asked to assemble at St. Michaels Basilica on Thursday morning at 10:30 to form a guard of honor following the service.

The death of Minnie Catherine Tucker longtime companion of Arnold Sturgeon of Kelly’s Nursing Home and formerly of White Rapids, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the age of 79.

Born in White Rapids, NB, Minnie was the daughter of the late Leo and Hilda (MacDonald) Tucker.

Minnie was a homemaker who also worked at Wall’s in Blackville, Miramichi Hotel and the Basket Center. She loved to sew, knit, quilt and take photos.

Minnie is survived by three sisters: Ruby Nash (Edward) and Leona Jardine (Grant) all of White Rapids, NB and Veronica Steever of Bathurst, NB; three brothers: Clinton (Sandra) of Newcastle, NB, Hazen (Anne) and Sherman all of White Rapids, NB; one sister-in-law: Ethel Tucker of White Rapids, NB and many nieces and nephews.

Minnie is predeceased two brothers: Edward (Rosemary) and Bernard; sister-in-law: Lois Tucker and brother-in-law: Robert Steever.

Visitation will be held at the Father Murdock Memorial Room on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Renous on Thursday, November 6, 2014 @ 11 AM with Monsignor Joseph Woods officiating.

FLANAGAN, EDWARD – Edward Thomas Flanagan passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on November 3, 2014. Born on December 16th, 1936, he was the son of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Doyle) Flanagan. Ed joined the reserve army (band) at a young age. He was also a fourth degree Knights of Columbus and member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch number # 3. Ed was the plant superintendent starting in 1973 at Hotel Dieu Hospital until he retired in 1996. He was a devoted husband for over 50 years, beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Murchland). His children Tim (Peggy Kelly), Cathy Creamer, Miramichi. Bernard Flanagan, Greg Flanagan (Karen) of Courtice, Ontario. Colleen Knowles (Danny) of Rusagonis, NB. He is survived by his grandchildren Cassandra Creamer (Kevin Bowes) and Cody Creamer (Nikki McLaughlin) Oshawa, Ontario, and Haley and Daniel Knowles; Four brothers: Jack (Judy), Kevin (Murielle), and Jimmy all of Miramichi; Keith from Kingston, Ontario. Five sisters: Marie Beek (late Jim), Dee-Dee Carter (Roy), of Moncton, New Brunswick. Betty-Ann Kiley (Joe) of Charlottetown, PEI and Debbie McGrath (Danny) of St. John and Geraldine Corcoran (Edward) of Miramichi. In addition to his parents, Ed was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers Joseph and Paul.

Linda was a member of the former St. Mark’s United Church, Douglastown, NB.

Leona was a devoted mother and grandmother and worked as a caregiver/sitter at the old Miramichi Hospital.

Besides his wife, Lionel is survived by: ten daughters: Terri (Sterling Somers) of Sillikers, NB; Emelda (Steven Fairweather) of Hampton, NB; Joanne Fairweather of Riverview, NB; Rose Comeau of Saint John, NB; Rita Bourgois of Miramichi, NB; Barbara (Peter Hodgson) of Vermont, USA; Lucy (Allan McGlinchy) of Moncton, NB; Kathy (Glenn Hansen) of Riverview, NB; Patricia (Simon Pineau) and Louise (Willis Matchett) all of Miramichi, NB; three sons: David (Nancy) and Michael all of Miramichi, NB; Lionel of Belleville, ON; 26 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Lionel is predeceased by: three sisters: Emelda Vautour, Marie Gray and Armance Doucette and five brothers: Romeo, Albert, Wilfred, Aurel and Arthur.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Cecelia Anderson, wife of the late Albert Anderson, passed away at Mount St. Joseph’s Nursing Home on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the age of 98.

Born in Russellville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Charlotte Savage.She was a homemaker, a member of St Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Alter Society and St. Anne’s.

She is survived by her daughter Audrey O’Blenis (late Ora) of Ottawa, Ontario; special niece, Diane Trevors; 2 sisters, Rita Patterson of Loggieville and Francis Kenny of Tabusintac; 1 brother, Bernard Savage; her 5 grandchildren and 2 great grand children.

Mary Agnes worked at Sobey’s in Fredericton for 33 years as well as being a caregiver at the Stan Cassidy Center in Fredericton.

OI957488057_ImageMiramichi – Carole Roxana Dickson, widow of the late Lewis P. Dickson, of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home and formerly of Riverside Drive, Miramichi, passed away at her residence on Thursday morning, November 13, 2014, at the age of 77.

Born in Kentville, N.S., on December 7, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Rita (Kelly) Redden. She was a graduate of Acadia University with a degree in Arts. She was a teacher by profession and taught at Chatham High School, prior to retiring to raise her family. After returning to the workforce she was employed for several years as a pharmacy technician.

She was a member of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; founding member of the U.C.W.; a member of the Chatham Curling Club; Miramichi Golf & Country Club; Miramichi Duplicate Bridge Club; member of the Chatham Lionettes Club. She was an avid reader and was involved in the Laubach Literacy Program.

Carole loved her husband, her children and granddaughters, daughter in law and her home. She and Lew enjoyed travelling, especially their trips to New York to the theatre and to Europe.

Carole is survived by one son, Bruce Dickson ( Colleen), of Miramichi; two granddaughters, Christine and Elizabeth Dickson; her special cousin, Shelia Redden Smith; her very close friend, Anne Versack. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis, in May of 2014; one daughter, Leslie Daigle, P.Sc.Pharm; two brothers, Harold and Frank Redden (Beth).

Visitation will be held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Saturday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.

Mae was a homemaker, a member of the Miramichi Seniors Club, Newcastle Curling Club, Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and a volunteer at the Food Bank, Hospital and Meals on Wheels.

Mae is survived by two daughters: Sharon Bushey (Wayne) of Miramichi, NB, Shelley Bryenton (Todd) of Bryenton, NB; one son: Charles (Julie) of Miramichi, NB; six grandchildren: Michele Bushey (Keith Joe), Michael Bushey (Sonia), Mark Bushey, Mackenzie Murphy (Peter), Marty McNamara (Amanda), Jonathon Bryenton and seven great grandchildren.

Mae is predeceased by two sons: Harold and Daniel; three sisters: Jean Mullin, Ollie Mullin and Doris Carrier and four brothers: Harold, Fred, Clayton and Kenneth.

Kenora, Ont. Amanda Dorothy Patricia Gulliver, of Kitamat, B.C. and formerly of Miramichi, N.B., passed away in Kenora, Ont., on Sunday, November 2, 2014, as the result of a motor vehicle accident, at the age of 32.

Born in Chatham, N.B. on January 19, 1982, she was the daughter of Patricia Gulliver and the late George Mazerolle.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Gulliver, of Miramichi; two sons, Nash and Steven Matchett; one uncle George Gulliver (Audrey), of Alberta; one aunt Connie Gulliver, of Napan; several cousins. She was predeceased by her father, George Mazerolle; her grandparents, Donald & Lavina Gulliver; one uncle, James Gulliver.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public memorial service will be held from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin, on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Michael O’Hara. Interment will be in the church cemetery, Bay du Vin.
